World needs, major elements of the solution, key conclusions
The world needs to limit global warming to 1.5C while staying within the Paris 2015 commitments on CO2-emission reductions. The method described here is the only approach that can do the job using existing technology (other than solar radiation management which has huge unknowns, risks, and inherent disadvantages). This section describes and analyzes the major physical, chemical, biological, climatological, and financial elements of the new OTEC-centric solution, providing key quantitative results and conclusions and comparisons against global warming solutions based solely on wind, wave, and solar energy. It summarizes the potential environment impacts (with further details in the Appendix) showing that based on current knowledge, there are no show-stoppers.
